Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. We collect the data related to the Facebook Comment you post, only from  your consent that you grant before posting Facebook Comment at our website. This data includes your Facebook account name, unique Facebook account identifier, unique identifier associated to the posted Facebook comment, unique open graph object identifier of the webpage at which you posted the comment, unique identifier associated to the parent comment if you reply to an existing comment. This data is used to show recent Facebook Comments made all over our website and/or to show the old comments made at non-SSL webpages before we moved our website to SSL. You can revoke this consent at any time by sending us an email.

We use GooglePlus Comments widget at our website for you to be able to comment at our webpages using your GooglePlus account. From this interaction Google automatically collects and store certain information in server logs like IP address, device event information such as crashes, system activity, hardware settings, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request, in accordance with their data privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Who we share your data with

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We retain transaction history for as long as is required for accounting purposes, and for as long as considered to be in the legitimate interests of the organization. We retain such data on this live website for a more limited time – typically no longer than 1 month from the date of completion of a transaction. Website backup data is stored as per our data backup retention policy (please see below).

Data backup retention policy

Personal data stored on this website is also stored in our daily backup images of our web servers, which typically last for 6 months.

This data is kept in a “non-live” state and stored securely. If we need to restore our backups, we will undertake to ensure that any restored personal information is treated in accordance with the storage and retention policies as laid out in this document. Essentially, this means that if your data has been amended or erased from the ‘live’ website, then we would seek to ensure that data is also deleted from a backup in the unlikely event in which that backup had to be restored to a ‘live’ state.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Our secure based web servers by siteground.com are kept patched and up-to-date and the infrastructure is rated as PCI compliant standard. Website backups are stored securely.

What data breach procedures we have in place

In the event of becoming aware of a data breach, we would seek to establish what data has been exfiltrated and to inform the subjects of that data as soon as reasonably possible. We would also try to inform the Data Commissioner’s Office with 72 hours of becoming aware of a data breach. We would then take measures as are deemed appropriate to determine what happened and to make the required technical, process and policy changes as are considered necessary to minimize the likelihood of the same thing happening again.

We do not currently receive any data about our supporters or customers from third-party sources.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

We do not currently use any automated decision making.

We sometimes collect data from our supporters to build a profile and keep a record of transactions, which helps us analyze where our customers are coming from. This is useful to us in a number of ways – for example, if we know that a customer is interested in certain types of project or product that we may undertake, or enjoys being involved in certain types of activities, then we would be able to invite participation in those events.
